Daily Mantra: Stand behind the yellow line.

It’s often difficult to get instant perspective on situations as mothers. Things happen fast and we’re emotionally charged. But with practice, we can establish a tendency to regularly ’stand behind the yellow line.’ In doing so, we begin to see that the gravity and oppressiveness of situations is magnified when we have tunnel vision. When we stand behind the yellow line we realize that whatever has us torn up inside likely isn’t the end of the world. We can see the train for what it really is. By stepping back, we change our relationship to it. All of a sudden it isn’t so loud or perilous. In fact, like many challenges, it will probably end up taking us somewhere even if we didn’t want to go in the first place.
